WHAT DATA WE COLLECT
When visitors or subscribers leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you subscribe to the membership or make any purchases, your profile will be updated on the mailing list with how much you have spent.

When you subscribe as a member you will automatically be enrolled into a membership only mailing list, for sending periodic emails with regards to member benefits. This is required for you to receive your member benefits. Emails will be in relation the membership and consist of updates to the library, membership or website, member spotlights, feedback forms and new learning content. It will also include information of new content on the blog which you may find beneficial and relevant. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of any email or emailing email@example.com. If you previously opted-in to receiving general marketing emails from Tide & Tree, upon unsubscribing or cancelling your membership, you may be automatically re-enrolled into these marketing emails once more. Again, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of any email or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do unsubscribe from these emails, it does not cancel your subscription, and you’ll still receive periodic account-related emails, but you will not be notified of any new content available.
Should you join via an affiliated link within the required cookie duration, your name and date of payment will be visible to the affiliate member who referred you but no further details will be provided.
For the purposes of ensuring correct payouts for affiliates, information such as name, date of affiliate sale, amount owing and amount paid will be stored. Further information such as the email address associated with Paypal will be retained for ensuring commission payouts can be made.
How we PROTECT your data
Data security is of great importance to Tide & Tree and to protect your Data we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure Data collected via this Website.
All data collected via the website is done so through an encrypted https connection. All data is stored electronically via the companies mentioned above and no data is taken offline or in paper copy.
If password access is required for certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential and ensuring it is a secure password. We recommend at least 10 characters with at least one capital letter, one special character and one numerical value. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your username, password or account information. If you share your username or password with others, they may be able to obtain access to your Personal Data at your own risk.
We endeavour to do our best to protect your personal Data. However, transmission of information over the internet is not entirely secure and is done at your own risk. We cannot ensure the security of your Data transmitted to the Website.
A full data review is carried out quarterly to ensure this policy remains correct and up to date.
How long we retain your data
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Mailing list and accounts
For signing up to the mailing list or registering an account, we retain data submitted until you remove yourself ask to be removed from those services.
If you submit a form or email us, we will retain your email for reference purposes only unless asked to be removed by yourself.
We retain your payment information to be able to take recurring information. However the sensitive card information is not visible to any administrator and is encrypted with our third party payment processor, Stripe.
We retain your payout information and affiliated commissions indefinitely for account purposes.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
The data collected is used only by Tide & Tree. However, Tide & Tree does use other organisations that may be required to store or process your data to help cater the content to your specific interests, and protect the data that is stored with us. Some of this data may be stored outside the EU, primarily in the USA.
Members of our team, along with some third party organisations may have access to the information you provide us. For example, third party technical support, administrators and shop managers can access:
- Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
- Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.
Our team members have access to this information to help fulfil orders, process refunds and support you. Third party organisations my have access to this information to maintain the website and resolve any technical issues.
To be added to the mailing list, your name and email will be collected and stored with our third party mailing list platform, Mailchimp. They will also store additional information such as how and when you signed up, the date you updated your preferences and your preferred email format. Mailchimp may also use your data to predict your gender and age as well as your country, language and preferred email client.
Third party platforms such as Google Analytics, Facebook and Pinterest are used to track website behaviour and marketing analysis/statistics. Information is retained indefinitely to allow for historical analysis and planning.

YOUR RIGHTS OVER YOUR DATA
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
OUR DATA BREACH PROCEDURE
Should we become aware of a data breach, we will immediately secure the breach and contact any relevant third parties to ensure security is reinforced, followed by a prompt and thorough investigation into what caused the breach, what data has been breached and who has been affected. Following this investigation, all affected parties will be notified confirming what data has been breached and what to do. Finally, steps will be taken to ensure the incident is not repeated.
